Infrastructure for the Life Sciences Building - Universitetet i Oslo
OneCo provides secure and robust building infrastructure for the new Life Sciences Building
The Life Sciences Building is Norway's largest university building at almost 100,000 square metres, and Norway's most advanced research building. The building is designed to bring together the country's best research in life sciences, chemistry and pharmacy. OneCo is one of the main suppliers in the project and has delivered several important technical solutions. The Life Sciences Building will be a joint facility for leading university and hospital environments in the life sciences and ensure Norway's international competitiveness in the field. The building will house both the University of Oslo and the Clinic for Laboratory Medicine (KLM) at Oslo University Hospital. The co-location will strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and research in life sciences, and facilitate new ground-breaking solutions and new jobs.

Collaboration and LEAN for success
The project was carried out using a collaborative contract to ensure close co-operation between all parties involved from the planning phase to completion. The collaborative model has resulted in high quality, efficiency and good cost control, which is essential for the project's success. The project is being carried out with high demands on LEAN production for the construction industry to reduce waste, increase productivity and optimise the production system. The production is organised as a takt plan - known as "trains and wagons". This methodology ensures that our teams work in new areas every week, providing continuous improvement and optimisation of working methods.
Sustainability in focus
OneCo has had a strong focus on sustainability in the Life Sciences Building. We have installed a photovoltaic system as part of the building's energy solution and ensured energy efficiency through automation and modern technology. This contributes to a reduced footprint and makes the building future-proof.
