Connecting the infrastructure of the future

"OneCo's capital is the expertise of the people who work for us"

Society-critical infrastructure is crucial to ensuring the basic functions of society. To maintain and secure Norway's infrastructure, we must have enough personnel, equipment, technology and knowledge to deal with day-to-day operational challenges, as well as being prepared to meet future threats and vulnerabilities.

Building infrastructure, maintaining mobile networks and power grids, securing buildings and assets requires teamwork. The most effective teams are those that have competent employees who take ownership of their own and the team's tasks. Being a responsible employer is therefore a matter of course for us, and good cooperation with employee representatives and the safety service is a priority.

OUR VALUES

Since our inception in 2011, we have had the same values. Our values are the foundation of how we work. They help us build trust, deliver quality and create an inclusive working environment.

Long-term view

We build long-term relationships by being reliable and easy to work with. We take joint responsibility for delivering as expected and act in such a way that we are wanted again as a supplier.

Passion

We go wholeheartedly into what we do, care about the results and ensure quality. With skilled colleagues and a safe working environment, we create room to be creative and innovative.

Raushet

People who are met with generosity become good team players. Generosity in an inclusive environment allows us to share knowledge, resources and successes. We believe in helping others, which strengthens unity.

OneCo is an expertise company that builds, upgrades and maintains infrastructure for:

  • The green shift
  • The digitalisation of society
  • The future of mobility

Society-critical infrastructure is crucial to ensuring society's basic functions and welfare. It is therefore important to have the right expertise and capacity to maintain, protect and restore the infrastructure in the event of various incidents.

Expertise and capacity involve having sufficient personnel, equipment, technology and knowledge to deal with day-to-day operational challenges, as well as being prepared to meet future threats and vulnerabilities.

ONECO'S ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY IN THE GREEN TRANSITION

Increased focus on sustainability and a society that is increasingly emphasising the transition to renewable energy sources opens up a number of business opportunities for OneCo. We will safeguard these opportunities by ensuring that our deliveries to the market are made with as low emissions as possible. This will be among other thingset do this by setting the same standard requirements for our business partners.

Deployment of 5G infrastructure

The government has allocated NOK 560 million that can be used to develop fast broadband in rural areas in the period up to 2025, and NKOM is drawing a target picture of an alternative transmission grid by 2030. Transmission grids are the main routes in the power system and connect producers and consumers in different parts of the country with each other. Investments in 5G development and transmission networks are enabling the digitalisation of Norway.

OneCo's contribution to the digitalisation of Norway

OneCo is well underway with the rollout of 5G, fixed networks and transmission networks. As a decentralised organisation, we are well positioned to contribute to the digitalisation of Norway. We are currently building for Telenor, Telia, Altibox and other smaller operators.

Power development

NVE, Statnett and Statkraft all emphasise the need for renewable energy production if we are to achieve our climate goals. Technological developments have meant that the lifetime cost, measured in terms of cost per unit of energy produced, has fallen drastically for renewable energy. Demand for fossil fuels will fall, and demand for renewable energy will increase. At the same time, the cost of developing renewable energy will fall. There will also be a great need to expand the infrastructure (power grid) that will distribute the electricity produced.

OneCo's role in power development

Energy efficiency in private homes and the distribution of consumption throughout the day are becoming more important factors in a modern power market in order to optimise both the production and transport costs of energy. In this area, too, OneCo contributes with system solutions that can optimise energy consumption for the individual consumer.

OneCo currently contributes to the construction and upgrading of power generation facilities. In addition, we offer services where we build and operate the power grid. This is a prerequisite for ensuring enough electricity with stable availability to the end customer.

Electrification of transport

The number of new registrations of electric cars in Norway continues to reach new heights and the proportion of electric cars in the total car fleet is increasing every year.

The majority of electric vehicles so far have been private cars. Already in 2022, we saw several additions of electric vans and commercial vehicles, and more new models are expected to hit the Norwegian market in the coming years.

Increased permitted payload (compared to fossil-fuelled vans) and a longer range make electric commercial vehicles more relevant to more and more people.

In addition, increased efforts have been announced to increase the electrification of means of transport such as buses and ferries.

In recent years, OneCo has completed several charging facilities for "heavy charging" and has built up solid expertise in this area.

Solar cells

From being very conservative in its projections on solar energy, the International Energy Agency (IEA) now envisages that solar energy will account for 80 % of the growth in energy production by 2030, going from an 8 % market share for electricity in 2019 to 30 % in 2030. The roadmap for the solar energy industry in Norway towards 2030 estimates that the annual turnover for the installation of photovoltaic systems in Norway, solar parks, the process industry and floating solar power plants will reach NOK 60-118 billion in 2030.

In addition to this, there are sales in the other parts of the industry.

OneCo's role in solar development

By developing smart and innovative solutions, we help our customers and society as a whole to reduce energy consumption and increase their use of renewable energy sources. For example, solutions that make buildings more energy-smart can help reduce energy demand and CO2 emissions.

Together with our customer Pareto Alternative Investments, OneCo has installed solar panels on a number of commercial buildings around Norway in 2022 and 2023. This allows customers to both cover the consumption of the building itself and feed more renewable energy into the electricity grid.

We are also seeing a growing demand for system solutions that integrate solar, batteries and electric car charging. OneCo has built up solid expertise in this area and has delivered several exciting projects.

FROM THE CEO

OneCo is a competence company that builds and maintains infrastructure for the green shift, digitalisation of society and future mobility. As a large Norwegian industrial group, we have a special responsibility to ensure sustainable operations and a responsible and safe working life.

Tore Sjursen

Infrastructure is Norway's lifeblood - essential to the functionality and security of society. With increasing reliance on digitalisation and automation, and in the face of climate change, securing infrastructure against cyber attacks, natural forces and human error is critical. By investing in expertise and capacity for infrastructure development and maintenance, Norway can strengthen its national security, increase its resilience and competitiveness.

With more than 200 apprentices and several competence programmes for our own employees, OneCo is investing in the professionals of the future. Almost 100 of our managers have completed our management training programme, and we have expanded it to include skills development for project managers and base/plant managers. We believe this is important to strengthen our capacity to meet tomorrow's challenges.

Responsible and attractive employer

OneCo wants to be an attractive employer for everyone, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity or other circumstances. We currently employ a number of people from different nations, and we are proud of this community. With only 9.6 per cent of our employees being women, we consider this to be our most important challenge in our work on gender equality and diversity.

Through what we call OneCo Medvind, we recruit young people in collaboration with NAV. These are people who, for various reasons, have fallen outside the "A4 framework" of working life, but who have a potential and value that we believe is a resource for us.

Most importantly, we work to promote a robust HSE culture where we look after each other so that everyone comes home safe from work every day. This isn't about numbers and reports, it's about colleagues' lives and health.

Contribution to society and sustainability

OneCo plays an important role in supporting Norway's sustainability goals. Our deliveries in upgrading critical infrastructure, improving resource utilisation and producing renewable energy are important contributions to a sustainable future.

We are also concerned with how we can take responsibility ourselves, supported by our customers' expectations and our own employees' commitment. We have set ourselves ambitious targets to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, especially from our vehicle fleet. We are phasing in electric cars at a faster pace than originally planned and will continue this phase-in in the years to come.
